Nick Bowman, BCC’s Key Account Manager is part of a team of dedicated rowers undertaking a huge challenge for charity.
I have been a member of Llandaff Rowing Club in Cardiff for over 30 years. The Coronavirus means we are not able train together at the moment, so in order to give some focus to our individual training we have set ourselves a challenge. This is to row, run or cycle the distance between Cardiff and Wuhan – a total of 9,038km. At the same time we are raising money for two charities which are Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital Charity (a Cardiff hospital) and Refuge (a charity for victims of domestic abuse).
We are currently over half way there (somewhere beyond Uzbekistan I think) and the response from the different squads in the club has been fantastic. Some of us have completed half marathons on the rowing machine and one member completed 50km in one go as part of this challenge. We have raised over £1650 so far between the two charities but want to get a much bigger total if we can. We recognise times are tough at the moment but if anyone is able to spare any money for these great causes then go www.justgiving.com and look for Llandaff Rowing Club There is also a weekly video update on our progress which you can find at our web site www.llandaffrc.com
